Poetry from Photographs

Photograph by Marilyn Morgan

Washed by fate ashore

helpless tossed on nothing sand

we cling with failing strength

to colored anything

to tangled webs

to needed love

to fragile dreams

to someone just like us

lost, but trying to stay

Connected by a trauma thread

our minds and bodies

ripped and nearly dead

survive smashing waves

strong currents of old mistakes

soaked in salty grief

pulled by abusive undertows

landing here together weak

we await a vengeful tide

to rip away our hope
